The OTTR Story
One morning before an elk hunt, the first obstacle was a 15-foot river.
OTTR wasn’t created in a boardroom—it started in the mountains of the West.
One early morning, I was elk hunting with my cousin and a group of friends. Before we could even begin the hike, we had to cross a river about 15 feet wide and roughly a foot deep.
Everyone had a different solution.
Some wrapped garbage bags around their boots. Some changed into muck boots, crossed the river, then changed back into their hunting boots. Others took their boots off completely and crossed barefoot.
What should have taken a few seconds became a frustrating bottleneck that slowed everyone down before daylight.
Standing there, I remember thinking:
“There has to be a better way.”
That moment planted the seed for what eventually became OTTR.
As someone who also spends countless hours fishing, I ran into the same problem over and over. Many times I only wanted to fish for an hour or two from shore, or cross a small river a few times, but putting on full waders felt like more work than it was worth. I found myself either getting wet or skipping good water altogether.
OTTR was designed to solve both problems.
Instead of changing footwear or carrying bulky waders everywhere, OTTR slips over the boots you’re already wearing, giving you waterproof protection exactly when you need it. When you’re done crossing, they pack away quickly so you can keep hiking, hunting, or fishing comfortably.
Today, OTTR continues to be developed with one goal in mind:
